The foot of Gilman Street, at the entrance to Berkeley's North Sailing Basin.

This location may become the site of a kayak and sailboard access point funded by CalTrans as part of the Bay Bridge Seismic Retrofit Biological Mitigation Project.

There is already a large parking lot immediately adjacent to the site, and the hook in the riprap, although not a large enough feature to be prominent on most planning maps, is enough to provide some wave protection during launching and landing at most tide levels.

The land area to the south is part of the East Bay Regional Park District and Coastal Conservancy purchase, and is slated to be used for playing fields and supporting facilities. Water-related recreation and fields sports will share parking and other support facilities, and this positioning could encourage a valuable synergistic relationship between the two overlapping user groups.
