Jerry Jerry and the Sons of Rhythm Orchestra: Road Gore: The Band That Drank Too Much

OG, 1985, OG 7

Comments

Jerry Jerry was a fixture on the Edmonton punk/new wave scene in the early '80s. His band combined country, surf, gospel, and punk energy. This album followed his Fighting Socialism cassette, and has since been followed by two more fine albums, Battle Hymn of the Apartment and Don't Mind If I Do. Jerry Jerry and the Sons of Rhythm Orchestra is another damn good Canadian band that doesn't get the degree of attention it deserves.

Like Jr. Gone Wild, the Sons of Rhythm Orchestra have had a few lineup changes over the years. Occasional Jr. drummer Ed Dobek played on this album; on the next one, Paul Paetz, who played drums for Jr. circa 1988, and is now a member of the Mike McDonald Band, appeared. Mike's backing vocals are clearly audible on many songs on this album.
