On dealing with the major labels in Toronto:
"I know when I first went to Toronto, that city freaked me out. In Edmonton, you're isolated from what happens there.... I don't think we play the game the way they do, the schmooze and all that."
On needing a business-savvy manager:
``We're artists. We don't know how to do the business thing. I know I don't. If I'm in a bad mood, I'm a bad guy to have at a schmooze party."
``We need more people like Marlene D'Aoust (who manages Captain Tractor, a Celtic-rock band.) They haven't got a record deal, but she has done a fantastic job with that band as far as raising their national profile goes. But she's only one person."
Other comments:
``I think it's going to happen here eventually. The best thing that we can do is go out on the road and let people know we exist."
``You can get the industry people to come here. You just have to rock really hard."
"All the bands here are really eclectric. Bands are playing different types of music. I really like that, but it could be working against us, too."
