Marijuana and Tobacco
A Random Opinion™ by WS Mendler
Now, my personal stance is that marijuana and tobacco
should just be treated equally by the law. Legalize 'em both, criminalize
'em both, I don't really care -- but it's the hypocrisy of having two
standards for two more-or-less equally risky plant products that is one
of the great unadmitted roadblocks to sensible and effective drug abuse
prevention. Having said that, I must admit that the two are
indeed dissimilar in certain crucial ways -- and to prove that I am hep
to the subtleties, I submit the following...
Top Ten Differences Between Marijuana and Tobacco
10. There's never been a macho "Acapulco Man" advertising
campaign.
9. You don't see groups of stoners huddled around office
building doorways in the rain.
8. No toothpastes are available to "get rid of embarassing
THC stains on your teeth."
7. The "Spliffs Annual Tennis Classic" didn't happen this
year.
6. There are no Senators who identify themselves as being
from "marijuana states."
5. No drug kingpin (or other CEO) has lied before Congress
about the addictiveness of marijuana.
4. Uh... wow, what was the question again?
3. Clinton has definitely inhaled tobacco.
2. You'll never, ever find the end of a marijuana
cigarette on a sidewalk or in a public toilet.
...and the Number One difference between marijuana and tobacco:
1. Five years imprisonment and a $50,000 dollar fine!
