This is Tom Carr

| From Tom in his 50s |
I was born in Atlanta Ga. Jan. 30, 1950, and am living here now. I have traveled all over the world, lived in San Francisco, India, taught English in Taiwan, and so on, but Atlanta is the home I always come back to.
Spiritually I am sort of a NeoAmerican Liberal Buddhist. I practice meditation at the Shambala and Zen centers here in Atlanta, and do Viapssana retreats at the Southern Dharma retreat center up in the North Carolina mountains.
I have been interested in so many things at one time or another, that anything I listed here would be accurate one year, then wrong the next.
I write software for a living and like it.
I've been doing it
most of my life. Several years ago I went back to school thinking I
wanted to
make a career change and become a psychologist. However I didn't like
most of
the psychologists I met, didn't like the culture of the psychology
department at
the university, didn't like sitting and listening to peoples problems.
I took a
bunch of aptitude tests and they said I should be a computer
programmer, which
is what I had been doing all along, so I went back to it with a new
perspective.
Update - Sept 2004.
I retired in Janruary. Now I'm traveling, trying to learn to
speak a little Spanish, and learning to draw comics.
Update - 2009 I have been doing Diamond Approach work for about 2 years, since 2007. I started working again as a programer, part time, 20 hours a week at home, in late 2008. I like the focus that work brings.
