 Seeing "Gimme Shelter" on the tube the other night reminded me how Altamont
 was the dark side of the swoon back in '69.  Which left me wondering if
 there would be a similar counterpoint to Woodstock '94.  Or will Greedstock
 '94 be its own dark side?

 There don't have to be any parallels IMO.  We've come far enough for
 everything to be in its own context, I hope.
 
 After all, we've had a decade of Festivals (US, LiveAid, FarmAid, etc.) so I
 think the Woodstock/Altamont thing no longer need apply.  Or so I hope.

 Too many tents in the wrong places.  Some guy starts setting up a tent in
 the middle of one of the paths so someone asks ":why are you putting your
 tene where everyone is walking?"  rsp "well there is no place else!"  "do

 Who here knows where or what Altamont is or was?  The potential for disaster
 is breath taking.   The metal detectors that I sat in front of for 10 hours
 while awaiting my school bus trip of some 25 miles to reach this sight were,
 it seems a Kodak moment for the media and nothing else.  If one was so
 inclined to he or she could certainly brought a bazooka in here with them.
 My ticket was never even checked, it remains yet intact.  What may happen
 during the early morning hours here on Monday is truly a disaster.  I hope I
 make it out in one piece.  Please respond to the above address.

 There's no overarching cultural anxiety here today like I bet there was at
 altamont. so there won't be the resulting violence. but a corrolary--the
 performances here won't be as exciting as the stones were in 69, either.
 
 
 Idon't understand.  I come here to get away from tv, commercials and
 computers.  That's what I do every day.  That's what work is.  Hmm..it seems
 they are one and the same.  Imagine the time and energy it took this guy
 behind me to paint the styrofoam head he has swinging on a leash, isn't
 there something more constructive to do with one's energy.  Or is having the
 power to control someone's trip that enticing--in fact, too enticing to turn
 away from.

 Did everyone forget what their feet are for?  people of the
 90's are so emotionless everyone is waiting for someone else togive them
 permission to get down. Peple should listen to Sly Stone says and just
 boogie for themselves and follow there bliss.
