Flatpack is a comedy about the evils of Ikea. A young London couple move in together and find that their relationship is as flimsy as their furniture. The Hampstead Theatre hosted a preview of this play at a recent 'Start Night'.
Trails tells the story of a grief-stricken father desperate for a chance to make peace with his dead son. This dark but uplifting play is a tale of sadness, madness and what we leave behind.
Drinking to Remember imagines the relationship between crime writer Raymond Chandler and his literary precursor, Dashiell Hammett. Hammett's career-ending writer's block began in 1934, just as Chandler was first being published. Were the two events connected? Did Hammett lose his talent to drink? Or was his girlfriend, Lillian Helman, to blame? This one-act play made its debut at the Rosemary Branch Theatre, Islington.
Mother's Ruin depicts a London lad's struggle to escape his alcoholic mother. Torn between loyalty and loathing, 18 year-old Ray is forced to choose whether to let his mother back into his life or to cut her off for good. The result is brutal and heartbreaking. Mother's Ruin was part of the Young Writers' Festival at the Royal Court.
