Ki

line

Our symbol is the Japanese character ki (Chinese chi ), rendered on rice paper with brush and ink by the great swordmaster and calligrapher Takahashi - then re-drawn on a computer. Literally "breath," but usually translated "force" or "energy," ki refers to the inner power that drives all our actions, and the actions of the universe. I use it here to symbolize the power of change in our lives. The manner in which it showed up here (rice paper and brush to computer GIF file to Web site) is itself a reminder of the winds of change.
