His telescopes were of such high quality that, at first, his observations were not believed. In 1655, using one of his own instruments, he detected Titan, the first moon of Saturn. The Huygens Titan probe that was deployed during the Cassini mission was named after him. I used one of the images of Titan from this mission as the raw material for the image on this page. |
