Northeast
Geno Burgess, morning man at Rhythmic Oldies/WYSR (94.1fm, Roanoke) departs.
Nanette Lanfear is the new co-host & newslady for the "Majic in the Morning" show at AC/WAJI
(95.1fm, Fort Wayne). Down the hall at sister Oldies/WLDE (101.7fm, Fort Wayne), there are
two changes: OM Lee Tobin is now on the air from 9am - 12pm, and Samantha Stevens moves from
weekends to overnights.
Bob Swinehart is now Local Sales Manager at Country/WBTU (93.3fm, Kendallville).
Rhythmic/WCKZ (102.3fm, Auburn) has several changes, including a new website. Also,
APD/MD/Night guy Jo Valentine exits to start his own production company. New to APD/MD/Nights
is Mike Thomas, from MD/Nights at Urban/WYOK in Mobile, Alabama.
Where are they now? Former Rock/WBYR & Classic Rock/WFWI (98.9fm, Van Wert, Ohio; 92.3fm, Fort
Wayne) OM Darrin Arriens is now PD/PM Drive at Rock/WXQR in Greenville, North Carolina.
Northcentral
Religious/WHPZ (96.9fm, Bremen) is sold by Bomar Broadcasting to LeSea Broadcasting. No
purchase price mentioned.
Condolances to the family of Jim Leep. Leep, 58, was GM of Religious/WGTC (102.3fm, New
Carlisle) from its sign-on, July 2, 1991, until 1996.
Condolances also to the family of Robert Kirkley. Kirkley, 76, was founder of Pirod Tower
Company in Plymouth.
Northwest
J.J. Davis joins the Mid(AM)erica stations in Logansport and Peru, as Operations Manager. He'll
oversee Classic Hits/WARU(AM) & FM (1600am, 98.3fm, both Peru), Country/WHZR (103.7fm, Royal
Center), Oldies/WIOU (1350am, Kokomo), and CHR/WZWZ (92.5fm, Kokomo).
Lafayette News: John Flint, PD at AC/WSHW (99.7fm, Frankfort) departs for the Operations
Manager position at the Cumulus stations in Kalamazoo, Michigan (WKFR, WRKR, and WKMI).
Meanwhile back at WSHW, Randy Lawson is now Operations Manager. Lawson was the News Director
at "Shine 99" and AM sister Standards/WILO (1570am, Frankfort).
Continuing with Lafayette, the FCC has issued a CP for 91.5fm in nearby Attica. The
organization involved is the Fountain Warren Community Radio Corp. We did some checking
and can't find any information on them? Do you know? If so,
let us know.
Finally, the Purdue University Board of Trustees has approved a $1.5 million plan to almost
double the size of WBAA(AM) & FM (920am, 101.3fm, both West Lafayette). This project will both
increase studio space and renovate offices and other work areas. The current facility was
built in the early 1940's for a single AM station.
Central
WICR (88.7fm, Indianapolis), the University of Indianapolis radio station, gets a CP to put up
a new transmitter. They'll be renting space from the new WRTV-TV tower.
Country/WFMS (95.5fm, Indianapolis) morning show producer Brent Lee moves to nights at
sister Country/WGRL (93.9fm, Noblesville).
If you own Emmis stock, you're in luck: Indianapolis-based Emmis Communications Corp. announced
that its Board of Directors approved a 2-for-1 stock split, beginning February 24.
Westcentral
Religious/WVXI (106.3fm, Crawfordsville) is sold by Xavier University's "X-Star" network to
C.V.L. Broadcasting. With this comes a change by the FCC, designating the channel for commercial
use.
Southwest
Joe Blair, veteran morning man at AC/WIKY (104.1fm, Evansville) departs. Replacing Blair is
Phil Parker, from mornings at News-Talk/KFYR in Bismark, North Dakota.
Southeast
Religious/WVNI (95.1fm, Nashville) welcomes Greg Snyder to mornings. Snyder used to
do mornings at nearby WTRE (1330am, Greensburg)
