Northeast
This late breaker...Ms. IRW said she heard DJ's on CHR/WHTD (96.3fm,
Churubusco) - IRW just found out that PD Dave Eubanks will handle
afternoons, with a complete lineup that will be unveiled soon.
Northcentral
Artistic Media's Classic Rock/WZOW & WZUW (97.9fm, Goshen; 102.3fm, New
Carlisle) are now simulcasting as "Double Rock - Music So Good Two
Stations Play It." The format change occurred last Monday (1 April).
Several South Bend area IRW readers say it's a different blend of classic
rock than the old WZOW played. According to an article in the South Bend
Tribune, Shel Leshner, VP/regional GM of Artistic Media says the simulcast
will "give the region an awesome signal."
Longtime Oldies/WTCA (1050am, Plymouth) morning man & PD Andy Banas exits.
Replacing Benes in mornings is Tony Ross, who returns to WTCA after a
stint in TV at South Bend's WSJV (Channel 28, Elkhart). According to an
article in the Plymouth Pilot News, Ross will do mornings on WTCA and
afternoons on Oldies/WZOC (94.3fm, Plymouth).
Central
Condolences to the family & friends of Lis Daily, local TV broadcaster
with both WISH and WTHR. She passed away last Tuesday at the age of 43.
According to Marc Allan's article in The Indianapolis Star, Daily, born
Lisbeth Daily Crawford, joined WISH (Channel 8, Indianapolis) in 1986 as a
reporter and anchor. After a brief stint as press secretary to Indiana
Attorney General Pam Carter, she joined WTHR (Channel 13) as community
affairs director, in March, 1995.
"Trapper" John Morris exits after two years in mornings at Country/WFMS
(95.5fm, Indianapolis).
With a new law going into effect providing audio captioning for the
blind, IRW hears that WTHR (Channel 13, Indianapolis) and WRTV (Channel 6,
Indianapolis) have added SAP programming to achieve this goal.
CHR/WNOU (93.1fm, Indianapolis) adds Westwood One's TRL Weekend Countdown.
Through his new association with Nick Sommers Productions, WSYW(AM)/WEDJ-FM
(810am, Indianapolis; 107.1fm, Danville) OM Ed Weigle is writing, voicing,
and producing national radio for the World Wrestling Federation, in
addition to freelance commercial work for Indy radio and television.
A Bob & Tom affiliate update as WNJO (Trenton, New Jersey), WSHK
(Portsmouth, New Hampshire), and WMEQ (Eau Claire, Wisconsin) are added to
the network.
Southcentral
Both PD/MD Jim Ziegler and APD/midday lady Marie McCallister exit AAA/WTTS
(92.3fm, Bloomington).
Southwest
Keith Doades' Media Five Partners now has an LMA with Vincennes University
and is operating Country/WFML (96.7fm, Vincennes). Doades is the former
owner of WUZR (105.7fm) in nearby Bicknell. With this transition, four
station employees were released by Vincennes University and all but one
was rehired by Media Five.
A TV note: E.J. Junker joins as News Director at ABC affiliate WEHT-TV
(Channel 25, Evansville). Junker arrives from Assistant ND duties at
WBIR-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Ball State University's Department of Telecommunications seeks an
Anchor/Reporter for its local news project. The successful candidate will
be responsible for a new and innovative newscast on WIPB-TV, a PBS
affiliate licensed to Ball State University. In addition, the successful
candidate will have experience as a local, syndicated, or national anchor
and/or reporter; knowledge of newsroom operations; writing and copy
editing skills; computer literacy in applicable programs; problem solving
ability and skill in prioritizing under deadline pressure. Minimum
qualifications: bachelor's degree; at least five years of experience as a
local syndicated and/or national reporter and/or anchor. Preferred
qualifications: master's degree; ten years of experience as a local,
syndicated, and/or national reporter and/or anchor. This contract position
is available August 15, 2002. Send letter of application specifying
