Indiana RadioWatch: April 21, 1999
Northeast
On April 1, the air staff at Rhythmic/WJFX (107.9fm, New Haven) began an attempt at setting the world's record for the
longest continuous radio broadcast by an individual. Each DJ gets a shot at establishing the record. When all the jocks
have had their chance, we'll report the results.
CHR/WMEE (97.3fm, Fort Wayne) welcomes new morning show co-host Lana Conroy. Conroy last did mornings at
Country/WLJE (105.5fm, Valparaiso).
Alternative/WEJE (96.3fm, Churubusco), PD Kyle Guderian now hosts "The Living Room", featuring local bands. This is a
replacement for "The New Music Show" which was hosted by then-PD Weasel.
ModAC/WYSR (94.1fm, Roanoke) night guy Clark Kent departs. New PD Matt Bruce was only in town a few days before the Kent
departure. Bruce was most recently in the Cleveland area. Bruce and station receptionist Melissa now do mornings at
"Star 94.1"; the show being called "The Breakfast Flakes".
Northcentral
Country/WBYT (100.7fm, Elkhart) MD Lisa Kosty adds APD duties while PD Dave Steele departs for WKJN in Baton Rouge,
Louisiana.
Northwest
At Talk/WLTH (1370am, Gary), their sale to Marion Williams doesn't go through. WLTH Radio, Inc. retains ownership.
Westcentral
Congrats to Alternative/WGRE (91.5fm, Greencastle) as they celebrate their 50th birthday on April 25. According to faculty
advisor Jeff McCall, the station was founded in 1949 as the first 10 watt education radio station licensed by the FCC.
Central
Classic Rock/WNAP (93.1fm, Indianapolis) fills the PD chair with former WRCX, Chicago APD/MD Jo Robinson.
Rock/WFBQ syndicated morning duo Bob & Tom are out at KVRQ (92.5fm, Merced, California) due to a format change.
Southcentral
Clarification: The application for New Whiteland would be on WTTS's tower, not WFCI (which has its own tower near the
WTTS tower).
That's it for this issue! See you in two weeks...
