Indiana RadioWatch: April 27, 2002
Two announcements to start out.
1. My Palm Pilot went on the fritz this week, so I've lost most of my
contact information for all of you. It is fixed now, so feel free to
reply to this with your information. Thank you!
2. The Indiana Association of School Broadcasters (IASB) is looking for a
few judges to help with the State Finals on April 27th at Butler
University in Indianapolis. These judges would work from approximately
8:45 AM - ~11:30 AM (lunch follows) and would be judging high school
students in the air personality contest, the radio newscasting contest,
and the television news anchoring contest. Judges are invited to the
awards ceremony at 1:00 PM as well, but they may leave once they finish
judging. Judges get a free lunch! If anyone is interested, please have
them contact me, Jon Easter, at Ben Davis High School, (317) 227-4122 or

Now, onto the news of the week...
Northeast
A reader is looking for contact information for Matt Bruce, former PD of
then-Modern AC/WYSR (94.1fm, Roanoke). IRW thought he worked at WRKR in
Kalamazoo, Michigan, but he's not there. If you know, drop us an e-mail.
Northcentral
Salem Radio Network's Mike Gallagher visited South Bend this week.
According to Alesia Redding's article in the South Bend Tribune, he
broadcast his radio show on Tuesday and Wednesday from the studios of
local affiliate News-Talk/WSBT (960am, South Bend).
This TV note: Nine year veteran ND Ellen Crooke exits NBC affiliate WNDU
(Channel 16, South Bend) for similar duties at WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, New
York.
Central
Pending final FCC approval, Hoosier Broadcasting Corporation will soon
launch Indianapolis' first full-time classical station, since WSYW-FM
(107.1fm, Danville) left the air in 1998. According to Marc Allan's
article in the Indianapolis Star, the 49,000 watt station will hit the air
when the FCC grants the CP, after a 30-day public comment period.
Southwest
An agreement has been reached between the Indiana Community Radio
Corporation and Florida-based Pensacola Christian College over an
application for the 90.1fm/Wadesville allocation. The settlement
dismisses the PCC application for 90.1fm in nearby Farmersville. The new
station be a sister station to WJCF (88.1fm, Morristown).

If you think doing Oldies radio is uncool, unfun, and unthinkable you
haven't listened to the right Oldies station! Gold 104.5 / Indianapolis
is consistently one of the highest rated Oldies stations in America and we
are looking for great weekend/fill-in talent. If you are up-tempo, do
great content, can sell a liner so it doesn't sound like a liner and be a
party on the radio, we want to hear you work. Send your CD or cassette
and resume to Don Riley, WGLD, 6810 N. Shadeland Av, Indianapolis, IN
