Station History
1450am signed on June 26, 1961. 1450am in Jeffersonville was originally WAVE(AM), and sister to NBC affiliate WAVE-TV
(Channel 3, Louisville, Kentucky). WAVE(AM)'s calls changed to WAVG in 1981. WAVG was purchased (as WXVW) by Sunnyside
in 1991. The calls reverted from WXVW back to WAVG in July 1997. WAVG was sold in April 1998 by
Corum Enterprises to Sunnyside Communications for $134,200 in
April 1998. The sale included sister stations WQKC-FM and WZZB(AM). It then switched to a
"classic hit country" format soon thereafter. WAVG was later purchased by Susquehanna Radio Corp. in
March 2001. Now WQKC.
