Leaving Zion

Our next destination was Bryce Canyon, about 100 winding miles east of Zion. The route started with a switchback road that climbed out of Zion's canyon and through a mile-long tunnel carved through the rocks. On the far side a tunnel a steep, half-mile trail led to a spectacular view of the road we'd just traversed and the canyon beyond.

One of the gorgeous rock formations along the trail.

More impressive rock faces.

The view back over Zion.

Farther along, we passed by Checkerboard Mesa.
