Costa Rica, November 2006 -- Hummingbirds in Monte Verde

Hummingbirds flocked to the feeders at a small tourist shop near the entrance of the Monte Verde Cloudforest Reserve. The birds are so used to people they buzz by mere inches from your face. You can stand within a foot of the feeders to take photos.

This Violet Saberwing was so cocky it repeatedly buzzed me as I tried to snap its picture.

The vegetation of Costa Rica is pretty impressive, too
