This photograph of a Native American Petroglyph was taken at Comanche Gap, in New Mexico's
Galisteo Basin. One of the amazing things about the New Mexican
landscape is that virtually all black lava rock outcroppings of any size, have at
least a few, and generally more of these engraved images. The landscape became both
the book, and the setting of the liturgy. The petroglyph images are available to those of
us curious enough to vist.
The image on the rock was most likely created by a inhabitant of a nearby pueblo. The pueblo, and it's former inhabitants, exist today only as spirit.
