When the Hopi people first came to this continent, they were met by the spirit being Massau who gave them their instructions for living in this place. This image of the footprint (it's on the right sloping surface), and my old friend frog, is but a couple of the 15,000 living images in the Petroglyph National Monument on Albuquerque's west side.
It is the most endangered national monument in the US, with urban development up to it's borders, and six lane roads proposed to be built through what essentially is to the native americans, a sacred area reminding them of who they are, and where they came from.
Standing on the edge of this monument next to images like this, one becomes clearly aware of the clash of cultures happening in our time.
