(The Lost Era is a series of books set between the end of the original series movies and the beginning of The Next Generation, featuring characters from several series. There were six original Lost Era novels, and two other possible titles were discussed. In 2007 one of the books discussed as a possible Lost Era novel, featuring Picard between the end of his time as captain of the Stargazer and the beginning of The Next Generation, was published as part of The Next Generation's 20th anniversary celebration. A book featuring Benjamin Sisko prior to his time at Deep Space Nine is still at an early stage of development. The Deep Space Nine prequel trilogy Terok Nor has also been labelled as Lost Era.)
