mime and storytelling shows...

Ballots, Bullets, and Bagatelles

"Ballots, Bullets, and Bagatelles" is a seriocomic collection of stories, fables, poems, and songs (some original, some adapted from folklore and literature) around themes of war, peace, and politics - including "Marching to Ameristan," "The Eagle's Price," and "The Ingenious Patriot" (adapted from the fable by Ambrose Bierce). Performances can be shaped from this material to run anywhere from 20 minutes to a full-evening concert performance. Recommended primarily for teens and adults.

Serious Silliness

The "Serious Silliness" performance, suitable for all ages but geared to elementary-school audiences, begins with the "Hoop Bagatelle," a fifteen-minute melange of mime, clowning, and juggling that serves to warm up the audience and involve them in the show from the start. A short lecture/demonstration of mime techniques follows, exploring mime illusions, characterization, body language, and gesture with ample opportunity for the audience to try various activities in their seats. The show concludes with "The Singing Cowboy," an original audience participation piece in which audience members act out the adventures of the hapless Clyde, a Tom Mix wannabe hampered by a lack of musical talent who nonetheless learns that the greatest joy comes in singing for its own sake. The show runs 45-50 minutes, and has been performed for schools, libraries, and festivals throughout the eastern US.

Stories of Gifts and Giving

"Stories of Gifts and Giving," our show for the winter holidays, features seasonal tales from around the world such as the original story "Sam the Snow Angel," as well as the Japanese tale "New Year's Hats" and the European classic "The Clown of God." Running 45-50 minutes, the show includes audience participation, and is appropriate for religious and secular audiences alike.

MIME TELLS ALL

MIME TELLS ALL is a full-evening concert performance, combining movement and word, objects and imagination, music and silence, humor and heart.
