Wow... take one weekend off and come back to ... wow.
DanGuy... it's been said numerous times, but congratulations.
I haven't had a chance to check out the new NG/AG site yet, but will
do so when I'm pretending to be working tomorrow.
Haven't gotten my copy of AG yet.. hopefully tomorrow... Hopefully it
will be punctual and not late. But I had really wanted it to be early.

Michelle - Burning Man stuff materializing... our camp keep talking,
but we haven't done anything to organize yet. I think that July will be
a good organizing month (it had damn well better be!)

It's nice to be home....

Ooh, by the time I wake up tomorrow, I'll be able to pick up my brand
new copy of AG! Woo hoo!

Dan W - Well, since you brought it up (okay, *I* brought it up, but
you continued it), our camp is having a fundraiser party on Saturday.
Anyone in the bay area looking for a fun party and a good cause (and
interested in milling around with a bunch of people who look like
they'd be dangerous and scary, and just walked off the set of a Mad Max
movie, when really we're some of the most easy-going sort) should go
to... um... hang on... here we go:

http://www.deathguild.com/

And it's even kind of vaguely Neil related (in the loosest sense of
the word), in that my camp (which is devoted to all things Neil) is
housed within the Death Guild camp.

And the party is very likely the last time any one will see me sane
until BM is over.

squeaks, whose father kicked her ass in Thunderdome last year... grrr

A word of advice: never turn on the air conditioner, the TV, the
microwave & a half dozen lights in a new apartment at 11p.m. on a
Sunday. Bad things happen.

Like missing the Announcement. CONGRATULATIONS Dan & Lori!! Welcome
Alexander! I'm so glad everyone is well.

Len--am *sooooo* jealous of your being at that show last night. Was
it fab? What did he read? Tell all!

Jinx--get better soon! Good vibes your way!

I'm starting to think we're not so much a mob as a tribe of nomads.
Good luck to all the moving folk!

The bad thing that would happen in California is that our electricity bill
would immediately jump another $20.

Just got back from Washington state, where they were running a radio spot in
which Dad announces that Mom has an announcement. "I've--decided to run the
vaccuum cleaner," she says. The children howl in horror: it's homework by
candlelight now to make the budget balance.

Jinx--I have recently had an upper endoscopy myself and am heading
down that lovely road towards ColonFun as well. I feel your pain.
Literally. Anyway I hope that you come through it as painlessly as
possible. I'm curious what your malady is and if we can trade helpful
hints...

Well, today's the big day. Let us all fork it over and make Neil a
superstar! hehe...

Jinx--Lots o luck with the "ColonFun." You too, Adriana.

Got up early to buy the book (okay, so 10am is early for me) and I've
been reading it ever since. I am thrilled so far. They had one of the
signed copies for sale, but I figured that since I am going to a
signing, I should let someone else nab that copy.

Speaking of which...I would like to say Hi to anybody coming to the
Dayton signing...should we do anything special so we can find each
other?

Michelle - I didn't do Thunderdome last year *sigh*... I managed to
get a really bad case of Playafoot and was not overly mobile most of
the time. Not this year though... oh no... I'm ready (and not wearing
sandals or going barefoot like I did last time!). I may swing by the
fundraiser this weekend...

Whee! I'm actually feeling a little giddy, just got back from my lunch
break with my very own pretty little (ok, not so little) hardback of
my very own. Even has a funny-slightly disturbing face doodled next to
Neils sig. Still wish that I was close enough to a signing to attend,
but I'm very happy nonetheless.

K, enuf chitting, I've gotta go read.

Playafoot.... the Playa (desert) is highly alkaline.
I, thinking that wearing sandals and going barefoot in a desert was
appropriate, hadn't taken into account the fact that this wasn't your
average Lawrence of Arabia desert. The playa actually eats into your
skin, so that after about two days of walking around without socks, my
feet were so dry and cracked and bleeding that I spent the rest of the
week hobbling about in pain unless I was on substances that made me
unaware of discomfort.
On the plus side, if I hadn't been observed being a fool in pain I
wouldn't have gotten a foot massage from the woman who I am currently
in a relationship with. Funny how these things start... isn't it?

Mary - It's worse when you do it at noon on a weekday. Fridge going
out on a 98 degree day is a bad thing... that happened to a friend of
mine. And then the next day her rolling blackout hit. Oh ick!

Martha - That instantly brought up images from Peter Pan, when father
is trying to tally up schillings and pennies to afford to keep the
children. :)

Dan W. - Playafoot? Someone didn't bring a bottle of lemon juice with
him! For shame! (or picklejuice, but 'lemon fresh' has a better ring to
it...)

Tara - http://www.snafu.org/michelle/ttcperpix.htm has some pictures
of Thunderdome last year (well, pictures of Daddio beating me to a
pulp). If you picture a smaller dome (I think 20' diameter, instead of
the 45' one we used at BM), and no bungee harnesses, *that* is a
mini-dome battle.

Shawn - You should scan the doodle. I'm nosy. :)

squeaks, off to go pick up her AG, and Stardust, and...

Jinx & Adrianna... good healthy vibes your way!

Dan... what a lovely way to enter into a relationship. Who doesn't
say everything happens for a reason?!?

Making Neil a superstar... picked up the lovely hard copy and
attempted to read at the lights (which of course turn green immediately
if you attempt to read anything). Also picked up the audio and am
tempted to play it in the office while I work. However, want to read
it first then hear it... gah. Work is in the way. HMMM... could call
in sick, blame the bad car karma!

Dan, you best thank the heavens for playafoot.

Suzanne, thanks for the health points. Who is the actor/reader of the
AG audio?

You know, I have a question: is anyone else here stuck in a corporate
Hell job right now? I am still temping here at Warner Brothers and
sometimes I cannot believe the contemptible way in which the humans act
here. Just curious if anyone else is going through that right now.

Well, my husband bought it for me, after much discussion-

"You deserve this."
"No, I can wait, we can't afford that and going to the signing."
"You're not going to wait, do you want signed or unsigned?"
"Unsigned, leave the signed for someone who can't make a signing. But
I have other things he can sign..."
"Any books?"
"No, but I rescued the sign about Neil's signing at ConCat, that I
designed, I'd like him to sign that, and this headless Spawn figurine
that maybe I can get to write 'take that, you!' or somesuch on, and...
where are you going?"
"I'll be right back."

I'm glad that man loves me.

Ah, I have the whole place to myself...

So, this is my life, a typical day:

Cameron comes home from work, sits down with me at the kitchen table:

J: "Anything interesting happen today at work?"
C: "No, it was pretty boring, we just found another cremation."

Rowan, 3, runs up and announces from the head of the stairs:

"I've got to save the world! Alone! Right now!"

and runs back down the stairs, presumably to save the world in some
way that I really don't want to know about. Most of his methods involve
food and electronics...
