My performance schedule is posted at http://www.dgans.com/gigs.html - new
gigs are being added all the time.

As always, I'm in the market for house concert opportunities. If you see an
open spot on my schedule in your general vicinity, let's try to make
something happen! And remember: word of mouth is a gigantic part of
musicians' promotion and publicity these days, so if you like my music,
please spread the word about my gigs and recordings.

On Wednesday, July 6, Steve Noonan come to the KPFA studio to play and
talk on Dead to the World. I invited our mutual friend Rik Elswit
<rik> to join the conversation, and when we invited him to take Steve’s
guitar and sing a song for us, he surprised the hell out of me by
performing my own song, “Waltzing Across Texas.” Blew my little mind,
it did.

The show will be available in the KPFA archives until July 20. The
first hour is Grateful Dead 4/2/89 set 1; Noonan and Rik are in the
second hour.

Tonight is a very special event in Berkeley - an "all-star" tribute to John
Lennon that is also a benefit for the Ashkenaz Music and Dance Community
Center. I'm the organizer/coordinator/emcee, and I also get to perform a bit
with Rubber Souldiers. We're gonna have a good time (even if that is a
McCartney line), and we're gonna raise some bucks for this wonderful
nonprofit venue. If you're in the area, I hope you'll join the fun and aid
the cause.

Next week I begin a three-week tour with the Roy Jay Band - a dozen shows,
including some area I have never played before. Happy to be returning to
Minneapolis for the first time since 2002! (My gig at the Cabooze was one of
the best I played in that year.)

> my SO thinks that you're the best musician that I've ever
brought to her attention in my 17 years of encountering music
 online.

That's a high compliment!

I know a guy who has a performing career in Second Life. He has encouraged me
to join up and perform there, but I haven't made the time to explore the
possibility. I imagine there are quite a few artists in various art forms
who thrive in that world and that the rest of us aren't aware of.

You might want to post about him in the <music.> conference. I'll check him
out as time permits.

I am performing at the Freight and Salvage tomorrow night (Wed 11/23) at 8pm,
co-billed with the weird and wonderful Baby Gramps.

This is a really important gig for me. The Freight is both a wonderful venue
to perform in and a very hard gig to get if you aren't a living legend. I am
at the top of my game as a performer these days, and I am delivering shows
that get really good feedback from audiences and my fellow musicians. If you
haven't heard me in a while, I think you'll be impressed with my current
sound. If you aren't otehrwise occupied and you're reasonably near to 2020
Addison Street, Berkeley, I'd really appreciate it if you'd come to the show.
It'll help me get more gigs there. Plus, Baby Gramps is an act you have to
see at least once in your life! "The Salvador Dali of Folk Music," says the
Freight's web page. <http://www.freightandsalvage.org/baby-gramps-david-gans>

You do sounds like yourself. You do not compare easily to most of the
jam, folk, roots, and/or troubadour types that I would commonly think
of. A little of all of that and then some of none of that.

Just that you played all the good tunes on the radio.
