I got my new Mario DeSio acoustic guitar a few days ago, and I took it into the studio this week to check it out. The result is an acoustic trio recording of "Pancho and Lefty" with a nice jam at the end. Jeff Hobbs on cello, Joe Kyle, Jr (The Waybacks) on bass. <https://dgans.bandcamp.com/track/pancho-and-lefty>

Last night I broadcast a two-hour interview/music program with the great Geoff Muldaur. It's on the KPFA archive until January 4 <https://kpfa.org/player/?audio=249447>
Gary Greenberg (gberg) Fri 23 Dec 16 11:26
That must have been fun. He's one of my faves.
David Gans (tnf) Fri 23 Dec 16 14:56
It was. It was also video-recorded (we can't say "filmed" or "taped" any more :^) by a Dutch documentarian.
Ed Ward (captward) Fri 23 Dec 16 15:50
Is he still writing that opera and living in Amsterdam?
David Gans (tnf) Fri 23 Dec 16 16:14
Not living in Amsterdam, nor writing opera. He is doing a project in Amsterdam, involving orchestral type instruments. Listen to the last 10 minutes of the broadcast and you'll hear a bit of discussion and music. There are some vocals, biut I don't think it's anyth9ing like an opera. - Gold Tooth Woman (Words: Tennessee Williams, Music: GM w/ quintet) - Michigan Water Blues (JR Morton, w/ quintet) - The Frog (Written by GM, w/ quintet)
Tiffany Lee Brown's Moustache (magdalen) Sat 24 Dec 16 16:29
is he related to Maria Maldaur?

They made a lot of great music together! And separately.

I had the great joy of seeing Geoff and Maria with Jim Kweskin on their reunion tour last year (augmented by old friend from the Village folk/jug scene, John Sebastian).
