Hi, I'm Jay.

I'm a technology geek by career and hobby. Career wise, I guess I'm further
along than I ever expected and run the infrastructure technology for large
inancial services company in the US (with significant operations around the
world, which affords me a bit of travel).

As a citizen of the world, all human life is precious to me, even the ones
that piss me off - they can always change their mind, so have to give them
the benefit of the doubt and certainly their own experiences that got them
to where they are.

I'm a father of some young kids. I'm trying to pass along a few values to
them (see below) I want them to find something that makes them happy, and
maybe will also pay the bills if at all possible. If not possible... at
least something they don't hate to pay the bills and find the happiness
wherever else they can.

o Empathy: place yourselves in others shoes

o Curiosity: Why? How? Dig into the details, learn

o GSD: get “stuff” done; minimize your WIP

o Honesty: if there is more to the story, tell it

  o Integrity: do what you said you would do, when you said you would do it;
even if no one is watching or really cares

o Transparency: complete transparency (up to regulatory/legal compliance)

o Opinionated: to hone an idea to the best it can be, there has to be
    challenge; so speak up!!!

o Have Fun: if you go home and kick your dog, you’re doing it wrong and
talk about it, sooner rather than later

o Risk Tolerant: take risks and fail twice a year; or don’t take risk and
still fail twice+ a year - your choice, but first usually will result in growth
