If my work seems like old art in this era of new media,
then so am I an old artist holding onto the rail as I walk up the four
steps to my door and fumble in my backpack for the keys.
In 1993 I considered inserting computer screens into the centers of a
series of canvases. The women's faces would be digitized (I believe that
is the correct word) on the screen while the backgrounds would be
painted. But the back and forth (I can't for the life of me remember that
old saw of a critical phrase that means that the background and the
foreground are merged) would be lost.
