TOKYO CRITICAL MASS

Tokyo's first Critical Mass ride will take place this Friday, 30 October 1998.

Meeting time and place: Meet at 4.00pm on the bridge which leads from Harajuku Station to the main entrance of Meiji Shrine. "The Mass" will set off at 4.30pm and finish at the outdoor music auditorium in Hibiya Park around 6pm.

Come along, have some fun, and show your support for bicycling as an efficient, non-polluting form of transport.

To put things into perspective, there are 76 million bicycles in Japan, compared with 64 million cars (1994).

WHAT IS CRITICAL MASS

Critical Mass is often described as an "organised coincidence". On the last Friday of every month, concurrently in many major cities around the world, cyclists gather and ride 'en masse' to demonstrate that "bicycles are traffic too". Critical Mass is realised as numbers swell and this fact becomes recognised.
