Media Release: Washington, DC

The District of Columbia Bicycle Courier Association is sponsoring a Bicycle Solidarity Ride in Washington DC, the last Friday of every month.

The District of Columbia Bicycle Courier Association is continuing its monthly bicycle solidarity ride with its third ride taking place on Friday January 30, 1998 at 6pm. These rides are for the purposes of promoting solidarity among area bicyclists, and sharing our roadways with all those who use them. All traffic laws will be obeyed on the ride.

Each month has taken on a new theme, and the theme for this month is: human vs. the elements. What better time can bicyclists speak with true conviction than in the winter of El-Nino's greatest wrath? We will battle the elements by riding from Dupont Circle in the heart of downtown Washington DC to the waterfront below the Kennedy Center and then along the majestic Potomac River.

Previous themes have included clean air and solidarity amongst cyclists and pedestrians.

The District of Columbia Bicycle Courier Association is a non-profit association that works with the concerns of bicycle couriers in Washington DC. The DCBCA will bring the 6th annual Cycle Messenger World Championships to DC in September 1998.
