woodstock.12: The difference between drugs then and now

woodstock.12.0: Are We Really? (really) Tue 9 Aug 94 10:15

 Don't take the What?

woodstock.12.1: Are We Really? (really) Tue 9 Aug 94 10:18

In the 1969 there were really just two drugs...pot and psychedelics.
Pyschedelics included of course LSD, Psylocibin, Shrooms, Mescalin.
And I forgot the dreaded Speed!

While all of the above are still available and widley used today,
 what are the new drugs?

woodstock.12.2: Are We Really? (really) Thu 11 Aug 94 10:34

From what I have gathered in the media this week...the drug of choice for
Woodstock revisited is commerical promotionalism. Sponsorship for the
 sake of market share.

In fact, drugs and alcohol are not allowed into Woodstock II.

 Get high on Marketing!

woodstock.12.3: The Next Generation (mglito) Thu 11 Aug 94 13:14

There will be no coke at Woodstock '94.

 Only Pepsi :-)

woodstock.12.4: Much 2 young for Woodstock 1 (isaac) Thu 11 Aug 94 13:27

ugh. I can't stand Pepsi. Sorry, It's a matter of principle, Coke Classic is
 my drug of choice =8-)

woodstock.12.5: Mad Hatter (airman) Thu 11 Aug 94 13:27

Does security allow endorphins and adrenalin?

woodstock.12.6: Jeremy Kashnow (kash) Thu 11 Aug 94 13:46

Endorphins, yes. Adrenaline, no. It may be dangerous in high doses ;->

woodstock.12.7: we (justride) Thu 11 Aug 94 14:17

With all that caffeine, who needs adrenaline anyway? :^)

If you are going to Woodstock II:

A friend of mine who lives in upstate NY near Woodstock told me that the
Saugerties police dept emptied their jail cells last week and moved all of
their prisoners elsewhere in anticipation of some Woodstock busts. Please
 be careful up there.

Also, my friend tells me that some people will be riding shotgun on their
property during the festival in case people trespasses. Please do not walk
on someone's property, stay with the crowd at the festival.

woodstock.12.9: Danica Remy (remy) Thu 11 Aug 94 16:42

The locals have cyclon fences up round thier homes. I hear there is a
local pool on what day the fences are coming down.

woodstock.12.10: Self-propelled short circuit (kootz) Fri 12 Aug 94 08:33

Does that drug ban extend to testosterone? My guess is that the security
detail itself will be highly cranked on the stuff.

woodstock.12.11: woody (wstock3) Fri 12 Aug 94 09:10

drugs are more expensive in '94
 `

woodstock.12.12: Edward Potter (ejp) Fri 12 Aug 94 09:13

From the late local news last night on ABC, clouds of smoke, long
hair, and an attendee 10 feet from the stage "hey, my ticket is still
intact". In other words not much has really changed in 25 years!!!

woodstock.12.13: yo dude (wstock1) Fri 12 Aug 94 09:24

i asked you where you were from please answer

woodstock.12.14: editorial comment (green) Fri 12 Aug 94 09:45

As I recall, most of the drugs were free at WS69. At one point a longhair
asked us, "got any pot?" When we said no, he gave us some.

woodstock.12.15: gimme an "F"! (reva) Fri 12 Aug 94 10:00

Drugs are also *better* than they were in '69.

 Some drugs, anyway.

re: 13, yeah, it would be cool if WELLfolks posting here mentioned where
they were from. Maybe in the introductions topic, huh?

woodstock.12.16: yo dude (wstock3) Fri 12 Aug 94 10:23

if you're out there in south dakota I bet i have a field here with more cows
 than you do

woodstock.12.17: ...but his smile was so deranged (renser) Fri 12 Aug 94 18:13

 We're all here, together!

woodstock.12.20: Thou art that that thou art (raemo) Fri 12 Aug 94 22:20

I never remember hearing about drive-by shootings because of pot dealers...

woodstock.12.21: Are We Really? (really) Fri 12 Aug 94 23:01

Watch out for the Potatoe Guns...they're relatively new technology in
 some communities...

woodstock.12.22: Much[322YoungforWoodstock1 (isaac) Fri 12 Aug 94 23:05

I saw those, they are *so* cool!

woodstock.12.23: David Dalto (dd) Fri 12 Aug 94 23:40

Spud guns?? There are spud guns at Woodstock?? I'm heading for the airport!

woodstock.12.24: Michael Newman (jstraw) Sat 13 Aug 94 08:28

Not the spud gun you're thinking of David. These use most of aspud and are
fired by propane, they can cave in the side of a car.

woodstock.12.25: Alan Turner (arturner) Sat 13 Aug 94 10:07

 This Spud's for you.

woodstock.12.26: Tom Mandel (mandel) Sat 13 Aug 94 11:42

You can count on the national media running with the several
drug overdose deaths that have occured at Woodstock II. The AP
is running that as a major story today.

How many people died of dope at Woodstock I? Does anyone recall?

woodstock.12.27: Susie Mnemonic (pdil) Sat 13 Aug 94 12:06

That implies the presence of the Drug of the Nineties. Rumored to be
quite a bit stronger in the NY area than the rest of the country, so if
people go there to cop, they should be wary.

Seems to me there were NO drug-related deaths at the first Woodstock. No
deaths and three births. But I could be misremembering...

woodstock.12.28: dee (flanagan) Sat 13 Aug 94 13:28

that's the factoid i remember too.

woodstock.12.29: Mike Spencer (renser) Sat 13 Aug 94 15:51

I heard that the snowmen are bogus tabs, and that it was anounced
in between performers, I am not kidding, is it true, i Find this
very funny, almost wish i was there but not quite
....now maybe if PHISH had been booked 8-)

woodstock.12.30: trippin (wstock5) Sat 13 Aug 94 20:31

this is in response to Mike Spencer yes it is true that they are saying what
is the good acid and what is not.

woodstock.12.31: Are We Really? (really) Sun 14 Aug 94 10:31

The problem with Woodstock is that it is on the Northeast Coast...where
the prevalence of hucksters is most high. Thus the reason for the bogus
acid. New York and New Jersey are ripe with humans who will do anything
for a buck. The naive Woodstock Nation is ripe for ripoffs...but what
the heck...Acid only costs a buck or two so the loss ain't too bad!

I guess humanity has a definite need or at least desire to be intoxicated!

woodstock.12.32: (pholk) Sun 14 Aug 94 13:44

 please...
no hucksterism on the west coast, huh?

woodstock.12.33: David Dalto (dd) Sun 14 Aug 94 16:31

Spud guns like they don't sell at Archie McPhee, eh? I am _so_ naive.

Yes there were deaths at W1. A guy run over by a tractor he was sleeping
under, and I think one other I don't remember.

I've suddenly become fascinated by the one person born at W1. The
"Turning Point" thing on TV claimed that this person has never surfaced.
May have died young, may have been somehow separated from parents and
actually not know, may actually be keeping it to him/herself.

Are _you_ turning 25 this year? Is _your_ name Portosan?

Personally, I think this person has become a character in a Pynchon novel.

woodstock.12.34: in real life (irl) Sun 14 Aug 94 17:12

 i think its pynchon himself.

woodstock.12.35: Sharon Fisher (slf) Sun 14 Aug 94 18:57

Some people on tv certainly look dosed, but what do I know.

woodstock.12.36: we (justride) Mon 15 Aug 94 08:21

Today's NYT reported no births (at least not in the med tents or
 whatever), just one false labor.

woodstock.12.37: Merrill Peterson (merrill) Mon 15 Aug 94 09:32

Didn't CNS announce that one of their band members WAS that person born
 at the '69 Woodstock?

woodstock.12.38: otis (nycjag) Tue 16 Aug 94 09:19

  i think they were kidding
