Cross your fingers for me. Kurt and I are supposed to be at the Cody's
event on Monday. A nasty tummy virus decided NOW is the opportune
moment to infect Allistair. Here I was thinking my big challenge would
be handling an infant at a reading. Now I'm concerned I won't even make
it to the reading, let alone with the babe. As it is, he's in a sling
on my chest and I'm rocking in my chair so that I can type while he
sleeps.

At least the Kepler's event should be a little more open to movement
and menagerie, and will give the little guy an extra day to recover.

I suppose it's not the end of the world to miss seeing Neil, or for
Allistair to miss it (it's not like he'd remember the meeting). But
considering how short and infrequent the tours are becoming... well,
I'd rather everyone were healthy and rested and able to see each other.

I'd forgotten that Mike posted here once upon a time. Ah well, the
silly memories will always be here (not that he left many other kinds).

Yay! Allistair gets to meet Unca Neil! Yay!

Hope he's well, and you guys have a great time.

If I had stood in the signing line, I was gonna send you guys a hug
and a kiss for the little one. Tell Neil to pretend I did. ;-)

Mary (trying to read Ptolemy's Gate and Fragile Things and find an
apartment, all at the same time.)

Lasted through half the Monday reading. Made it long enough to say hi
to Neil & introduce he and Allistair to each other. Yay!

The Cody's event was the best they'd put on that I can recall. Very
much like the Angel tours, indeed. Amazing what a difference a little
sanity in scheduling will make.

In other news, money remains tight, and free time to surf the WELL is
even more elusive than it ever was before, so I'm going to have to let
my sub lapse. I'll still be around here as much as I ever was, but
that's pretty much it until time and money are a little more available.
*sigh*

At least this conference is open to the public!

Thought you all might enjoy the interview I did w. Neil last week. I
have to admit I was unwell and groggy and it sounds like it, but Neil
was great and it reads well...

Burried in this interview

http://www.crankygeeks.com/2006/10/cranky_geeks_episode_30_with_s_1.html?

Neil mentions that he could write a tshirt, and have it be a short
story.

Hey Neil! I want this shirt! I bet the CBLDF could make big bucks off
selling a Gaiman short story only available on a shirt.

Last night I opened my copy of Volume 1. Yes, the Sandman collection
is gorgeous.

However, it is oversized and leather bound - there is no way I can
read this on the train (where I do most of my reading these days).

I want a Neil short story on a t-shirt, too. It should be about
wells, or wellies, whichever you like, Neil. ;-)

I want a complete Sandman, too........<<goes off, whistling a strange
tune, in search of Sandman-y goodness from the Amazons of the web>>

Now I feel foolish. I went to Amazon to order the complete Sandman
and didn't get Fragile Things at the same time!

Actually Dan, I was surprised that Amazon shipped mine late Monday and
I got it on Tuesday night.

Today is Mike Ford's memorial. I wish I could be there. If it only
could have been tomorrow......

I did the next best thing. I went and read some Mike over at Making
Lght. http://nielsenhayden.com/makinglight/

And then I'm going to donate to the Memorial Fund.

Ave atque vale.

Hey people!

I've got a request from a friend. Do you know of any charity
organization that specifically encourages young women to be authors?

More Hits Than Misses
The National Theatre of Scotland was launched one year ago with a
budget of £7.5 million and since then it has toured 44 cities, towns
and villages across Scotland, reached nearly 100,000 people and won 11
awards. As it celebrated its first birthday this week, its executive
director said that it had created "more hits than misses". The
stand-out successes have undoubtedly been "Black Watch", about soldiers
from the historic regiment serving in Iraq, and the children's
production "Wolves in the Walls".
Venues have ranged from conventional theatres to drill halls, a tower
block, a ferry and even Edinburgh airport.
