The Croc Farm

The Croc Farm is a tourist trap in Antananarivo, a restaurant/zoo/gift shop/crocodile farm. I highly recommend it to those passing through Madagascar's capital; it will be one of your few opportunities to eat crocodile (which tastes like fish but has the consistency of chicken) and unless you're also going to devote weeks to capturing one, it's likely to be your only opportunity to see a fossa in the flesh.

Some of the crocodiles that give the place its name.
The only one of the photos I took in their reptile house that really came out. These are leaf-tailed geckos.
Ostriches aren't native to Madagascar, but no tourist trap is complete without them.
This particular male seemed to be in a state of display, fluffing his feathers and making noise.
They also have three fossas in captivity. This is the female.
She seemed a bit curious about me, perhaps wondering whether I was a threat to her baby.
Isn't this the cutest thing you've ever seen?
Well, no. THIS is the cutest thing you've ever seen. Let's hope Disney doesn't find out about baby fossas or they'll have 'em singing about the true meaning of friendship or something.
