Saturday 1
The San Francisco contra starts off the month with a bang at SF with caller Charlie Fenton and the Hillbillies from Mars (Ray Bierl, Paul Kotapish, Daniel Steinberg and Kevin Carr).
Wednesday 5
The first Wednesday Berkeley contra is held at NFM. David Newitt calls with music by an open band hosted by Patti Walters, Deirdre Lynds, & Rebecca King.
Also on Wednesday, in San José, there's an English dance at SJS. Jody McGeen & Alisa Dodson together lead dances, with music by Greenwich Mean Time (Vaughn Wolff, Stan and Susan Kramer, Kay Thorne).
Friday 7
The first Friday Palo Alto English dance takes place downtown at MT. Bob Fraley leads dances with music by the Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stan Kramer).
Saturday 8
Two dances in Palo Alto at PA:
A Family Dance taught by Bob Fraley and Joyce Uggla welcomes dancers of all ages with a dance at 5pm followed by a potluck dinner at 6:30pm. ...
Then, at 8pm, the regular second Saturday contra follows at PA, with series programmer Eric Black calling and music by Sidesaddle (Lee Anne Welch, Jerry Ashford, Kim Elking, Beth McNamara, & Bob Smith).
Finally, the second Saturday English dance takes place at 7:30pm, but at a different location for this day only. Jody McGeen calls and teaches dances to the music of Bangers and Mash (Stan & Susan Kramer, David Strong, Craig Johnson) at the Russian Cultural Center, at 2450 Sutter near Divisadero in north-central San Francisco.
Sunday 9
Two BACDS events in El Cerrito Veterans Hall:
Jim Saxe teaches a Waltz Workshop from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. With music supplied by Kathrine Garnder and Charlie Hancock, it'll be easy as 1-2-3...
Then, Jim, Kathrine and Charlie are joined at 7 by David Brown for an evening of great community dancing at the Sunday Squares and Contras, also at ECV.
Wednesday 12
English Dancing at NFM, with teaching by Alisa Dodson & Anise Feldman, and music by Jon Berger, Allen Dodson and Craig Johnson.
Friday 14
The second Friday Berkeley Contra at FIN, with series host Kirston Koths calling to the mighty music of The Contrabandits (Charlie Hancock, Chris Knepper, Kathrine Gardner and Kit Nelson).
Saturday 15
The 3rd Saturday San Francisco contra at SF: Charlie Fenton calls, with music by the Moving Cloud Orchestra (Paul Kotapish, Paul Machlis, & Laura Risk).
Wednesday 19
Contradancing at Berkeley's NFM: Erik Hoffman calls with an Open Band hosted by Charlie Hancock, Kathrine Gardner, & Laura Risk.
Wednesday also marks the beginning of the San José English dance's estivation: come to SJS for the season finale as a number of callers/teachers join with Greenwich Mean Time (Stan and Susan Kramer, Kay Thorne) to wrap the series up until next September.

A special fourth Friday contra at SF: special guest caller Delores Heagy serves up hot contras and squares, with music provided by Craig Johnson, Chris Knepper, & friends.

The kickoff of BACDS' Sierra Swing American Week at Alta Sierra. There's still some space left at what promises to be a great dance week in the southern Sierra foothills, three hours from SF.
