Thrift

Frugality and thrift are often laughed at as an idiosyncrasy reserved for eccentrics and the poor, but it is a valid way of life for people who are short on money, have definite goals for their money, are philosophically opposed to excess, believe money is a serious tool and not a toy, and people whose idea of common sense includes control over personal and business expenditures.

This conference was partly inspired by a book called “The Tightwad’s Gazette”, but a lot by my life experience and how I have managed to reach some modest financial goals by frugality without hardship.

We can talk about penny saver hints, capitalism, recycling, going back to the land, financial planning, goals, and so on. Thrift isn’t just for coupon clippers anymore.
