CURRENT STATUS:

Thursday September 2, 2021   15:48 PM PDT

Recent spamming incidents have caused delays in email delivery from well.com addresses to Microsoft addresses, including Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, Live.com and MSN.com, and to AOL/Yahoo addresses, and possibly blocked at all sites using Cisco cloud services.

Sunday August 29, 2021    10:03 AM PDT

There are no longer any delays in delivery of well.com email addresses.

Saturday August 28, 2021    6:10 PM PDT

A recent spam incident has caused delays in email delivery from well.com addresses to Microsoft addresses, including Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, Live.com and MSN.com. The mail will be delivered eventually.

Wednesday August 4, 2021    5:00 PM PDT

Microsoft blacklisting has been lifted.  Well email is being delivered normally to all Microsoft properties: Outlook, Hotmail, msn.com, live.com and others.

However, phishing attempts continue to target Well email accounts. The most recent ones are from throwaway Gmail accounts, and contain links to a forged Zimbra login page. Do not click on the links, and do not enter your credentials if you have done so. Please check with helpdesk if you’re unsure about any incoming email. Stay safe.

Thursday July 22, 2021    3:50 PM PDT

Current spam incidents have put us on the blacklist for all Microsoft properties: msn.com, outlook.com, hotmail.com, live.com, and possibly others. Please use another email server to correspond with recipients at those addresses until we can get this resolved.

Thursday July 15, 2021   23:00 PM PDT

At current rate, all email backlog should be processed by 03:00 AM PDT.

Thursday July 15, 2021 21:30 PM PDT

We have resolved  several issues with the mail servers. Inbound mail should be flowing normally. There is outbound mail queued that will take a  while to catch up.

Thursday July 15, 2021 2:00 PM PDT

Well email has been experiencing significant problems today, and both outgoing and incoming mail is severely delayed. We are taking steps to resolve it, and will post an update here when it has been cleared. We cannot phone individual members at this time, and we appreciate your patience while this gets resolved.

Friday July 9, 2021 7:13 AM PDT

All systems are running normally, we are off all blacklists. If you experience email issues, email Helpdesk.

Saturday July 3, 2021  10:33 AM PDT

In addition to yesterday’s warning, the current spam incidents have put us on the blacklist for all Microsoft properties, msn.com, outlook.com, hotmail.com, live.com, and possibly others. Please use another email server to correspond with recipients at those addresses until we can get this resolved.

Friday July 2, 2021  1:33 PM PDT

WARNING: Well email accounts have been spammed repeatedly over the past week with fake phishing emails pretending to come from the Well. They say things like ‘WELL Email Verification’, ‘Spam Alert’, ‘Account Expiration’, ‘Last Warning’, and so on. None of these are from the Well. Some of them have replicated Well branding elements like graphics and fonts, and even a fake Zimbra landing page, to trick users into clicking. Delete them. If you clicked by mistake, or if you would like to check whether they are legitimate, please email Helpdesk.

Also please refer to this Well Help page for tips on identifying phishing emails.

Saturday October 3, 2020  9:53 AM PDT

All systems are functioning normally.

Tomorrow, Sunday October 4, there will be a brief interruption in service for web conferencing, web mail, and billing, during a window between 6-7 AM PDT (9-10 am PDT) as we install security updates. Downtime should be only a few minutes while the system restarts.

Sunday June 7, 2020 10:30 AM PDT

New security cert installation was successfully completed earlier this morning. If you’re still experiencing problems with email or Well access, please report them to helpdesk@well.com.

Friday June 4, 2020 9:00 PM PDT

As of May 30,2020, a handful of users have reported problems with their email and other communications with the Well, caused by a piece of mis-configured software from our security certificate provider. We have obtained updated certificates and will install them over the weekend.

Friday May 29, 2020 3:00 PM PDT

The WELL has not had any reports of blacklisting or failed email attempts in the past ten days.

Sunday May 10, 2020, 10:50 AM PDT

Outlook.com still seems to be blocking well.com email addresses, but there’s a workaround: ask your correspondent to whitelist your Well email address. In the outlook.com web app, have them go to Settings (the gear icon in the upper right of the screen), then View all Outlook settings. They should select Junk email from the index to the left, and add your Well email to the Safe senders and domains list.

Wednesday May 6, 2020, 11:03 AM PDT

Well email blocking has been lifted by Comcast and Hotmail, but may still be blocked by Outlook. We are aware and are working actively to resolve this.  The Conferencing system is not affected.

Sunday 8/29 3:30p PDT: All email systems running properly.

Thursday 8/30 6:25a PDT: Mail from the WELL’s mail server is currently being blocked by AT&T/Prodigy’s servers. You may receive bounce-back errors when sending email to some recipients. We have contacted AT&T/Prodigy to have the block removed.

Wednesday 8/29 2:00p PDT: All systems running properly.

Wednesday 8/29 12:00p PDT: We are currently investigating connection problems for both web and SSH access to The WELL.
