Sunday's New York Times has a
story about Boris Westfeiler, a prof.
from the US who vanished in Chile in 1985. The Chilean govt. said he drowned, but there has been evidence over the years that he was handed
over to
Colonia Dignidad which was started by a former SS officer, Paul Schaefer. The State Department refused to spend $3,000 on an
investigation.
Martin Lee wrote about Westfeiler and Colonia Dignidad back in 2000 when I was online editor at the Bay Guardian. The National Security Archive has thousands of declassified documents on Chile online.
